The croziers of this little, awakening fern unfurl quietly on the leafy floor of this woodland garden in Poole.
The tired and browned old fronds were cut off at their bases a few weeks ago to ensure the new croziers weren’t damaged.
I love the statuesque shuttlecock ferns, Matteuccia struthiopteris.
What’s your favourite fern?
