Mottisfont Walled Garden

The beautiful walled garden at the historic Mottisfont, near Romsey usually plays host to borders packed cheek by jowl with a riot of roses in June. The disappointing spring weather has put the roses back by about four weeks, so another visit will be needed in early July to see the thousands of buds burst into life.

Despite a torrential downpour as we arrived, the walled garden borders looked resplendent with Geranium psilostemon, flag irises, foxgloves and alliums vying for attention.
